General Terms and Conditions of Business of Fat Jockey Ltd's Academic Holidays

  1. In these terms and conditions, "Web Legal" means Fat Jockey Ltd, the provider of these holidays. "Customer" means the person who purchases the holidays.
  2. References to "her" refer to both male and female customers.
  3. All orders given by the customer are not binding on Web Legal until we accept them either by written acknowledgement from ourselves. Payment of a deposit does not constitute acceptance of an order.
  4. Orders are accepted by us and the holidays are sold by us, subject to these terms and conditions which unless and to the extent expressly stipulated or agreed in writing by one of our directors shall prevail to the exclusion of all terms and conditions put forward by the customer (whenever communicated) which shall be of no contractual effect. Unless previously agreed, in writing by one of our directors no verbal, written or other addition to or variation or waiver of these conditions shall be effective.
  5. Clerical errors on our part are subject to correction.
  6. If any provision of these conditions is held by any competent authority to be unenforceable in whole or in part then the validity of the other provisions of the conditions and the remainder of the provision in question shall not then be affected.
  7. Should the customer fail to make full payment of the holiday then they will not be allowed entry to the law school or accommodation until we have received full payment. Should this occur, Web Legal accepts no responsibility for the health or safety of the customer and the customer must make his/her own arrangements for accommodation.
  8. Generally, the law schools require the following:-
    1. An academic reference;
    2. Release and Waiver form;
    It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that these are provided and given to the law school. Failure to ensure this may mean that your place on the academic holiday is cancelled, however the customer shall remain fully liable to pay the whole contract price.
  9. Web Legal will require the following from all customers:-
    1. An academic reference;
    2. Proof of travel insurance;
    3. Complete payment of the contract price;
    4. If the vocational option is chosen, proof of an adequate VISA;
    5. Complete of the Web Legal Release and Waiver form.
    It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that these are provided and given to the law school. Failure to ensure this may mean that your place on the academic holiday is cancelled, however the customer shall remain fully liable to pay the whole contract price.
  10. Generally, the accommodation provider will require the following:-
    1. Release and Waiver form.
    2. Reference
    It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that these are provided and given to the accommodation provider. Failure to ensure this may mean that your place on the academic holiday is cancelled, however the customer shall remain fully liable to pay the whole contract price.
  11. Once an order is taken the customer is liable for the full contract price. The customer is not able to cancel her place on the academic holiday.

QUOTATIONS

  1. Unless otherwise stated quotations and/or prices by us normally remain standing for 14 days and only constitute an invitation to treat. However, we reserve the right to withdraw a quotation or to vary any of its items (including prices) at any time.

PRICES

  1. Unless otherwise stated all prices quoted by us are inclusive of VAT.
  2. All prices are liable to change without notice. Web Legal reserves the right to change the price stipulated without notice to the customer.
  3. Prices do not include the following:-
    1. Flights;
    2. Travel Insurance;
    3. Medical cover;
    4. Spending money,
    5. Any ancillary expenses which may be incurred by the customer whilst on the holiday including meals (unless specified), entertainment etc.

CANCELLATION

  1. Any order that we have accepted may not be cancelled by the customer without written agreement from one of our directors, and if such an agreement is given the customer shall be liable to forfeit the deposit paid.
  2. Web Legal reserves the right to cancel these holidays without notice to the customer prior to 3 months before the start date of the holiday. All payments made to Web Legal will be refunded. Web Legal will not be liable for any losses to the customer resulting from the cancellation.

WARRANTIES / PROMISES OR REPRESENTATIONS

  1. Web Legal shall not be liable for any loss or damage of whatever nature (direct, indirect, consequential or other) that may arise as a result, directly or indirectly, from the use of any of the information or material contained in this brochure and/or the use of or access to any other information or material via web links from this brochure. These exclusions of liability apply only to the extent permitted by law. If any of these exclusions, in whole or in part, are found to be unlawful, void or unenforceable for any other reasons, that exclusion or part of the exclusion shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the other exclusion(s) or part(s) of the exclusion(s) in question.

RESPONSIBILITY WHILST ON THE HOLIDAY

  1. Customers are responsible for arranging their own flights to and from the United States. If the customer's flights are cancelled for whatever reason or the customer is unable to travel, the customer will remain liable for the full contract price.
  2. Customers are responsible for their own health and safety whilst on the holiday. Web Legal accepts no responsibility for any damage, injury or loss whilst customers are on the holiday apart from that as set out by law. Customers should be aware that the laws of the United States are different from the laws of the United Kingdom and all customers must ensure that they understand and appreciate the differences in culture and laws and respond accordingly to them. Web Legal accepts no responsibility for circumstances of customers whilst they are on holiday.
  3. Customers should also ensure that they have adequate insurance cover for their travel to the United States. Web Legal accepts no responsibility for the customer's failing to ensure adequate insurance cover for their holiday.
  4. Customers are responsible for arranging their own VISAs for travel to the United States and Web Legal accepts no responsibility for customers' failure to ensure they have a valid VISA.

VOCATION OPTION

  1. Customers choosing the vocation option must ensure they have a valid VISA for working in the United States. The vocation option is intended for US nationals only. Web Legal accepts no responsibility for any sanction criminal or civil made against customers who fail to ensure adequate VISA cover.
  2. Web Legal accepts no responsibility for injury or death whilst the customer is working at the law firms in relation to the vocational option.
  3. Web Legal makes no warranties or representations in relation to the suitability or otherwise of the law firms in relation to the vocational option or the internship itself.

    2. Credit or Debit Card - You must ensure that you provide the correct credit or debit card billing information when you make payment online. If you do not supply the correct billing address and/or cardholder information, the issuing of your tickets may be delayed and the overall cost of your holiday may increase. We reserve the right to cancel tickets after issue if payment is subsequently declined by your card company, or if you have supplied incorrect credit card information. We reserve the right to carry out checks on the information you supply in order to minimize the risk of card fraud, and before issuing tickets we may in certain circumstances require you to provide us with a fax or postal copy of proof of address, as well as a copy of your credit/debit card and a recent statement.

    4. Cash is NOT an acceptable method of payment.

VISA APPLICATION

  1. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that their ESTA or VISA application is made and fit for travel to the United States. Web Legal makes no confirmation of customer's ability to travel to the United States.
  2. Generally, EU citizens only require an ESTA application in order to travel to the United States. A formal VISA application procedure is not required. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they are able to travel to the United States. The customer will remain liable for the full contract price if they are not able to travel to the United States for any reason including but not limited to the failure of the customer to obtain a valid VISA for travel.
  3. In general, all non- EU citizens will require a tourist B2 VISA to the United States in order to participate in the holiday.
  4. Web Legal will assist the customer in obtaining a VISA, but makes no guarantee that they will be successful in obtaining a VISA. Ultimately it is the customer's responsibility to obtain the VISA. If the customer wishes for Web Legal to assist in obtaining a VISA, the following extra fees will be charged:-
    1. £120 non-refundable (in any event) VISA fee;
    2. £120 assistance fee.

  1. The copyright in all of Web Legal belongs to us or to the licensors of such content. We reserve the copyright and all proprietary rights in this brochure and all its content. All rights, title and interest in the names 'Fat Jockey Ltd, Web Legal Education, Student Pocket or The New York Bar Company and any other marks, logos and graphics of Fat Jockey Ltd displayed in this brochure are registered trade marks of, and/or owned by, Fat Jockey Limited or its affiliates. Other company and product/service names displayed in this brochure may be the trade marks of their respective owners. You are not granted any right or license to use any trade marks.
